I think Kim doesn’t know much about Ullungdo, he just copied from other detailed Ulluengdo map on 1830's. If he wrote some geography magazine around 1830's it would be hint for his recognization but we don't know it.By the way he wrote geography magazine e.g. 與図備誌 and 方與総誌 those magazine is match with å¤æˆå±è§‡œ°å›³ which Usan is just a anotehr name of Ulluengdo.
